The European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN), through its implementing partner DAI, in a bid to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process, organised a two-day workshop on election administration for staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The workshop is part of EU-SDGN’s efforts to enhance democratic governance in Nigeria, and it comes at a critical time as the state prepares for its upcoming governorship election.
The workshop which took place in Benin city, is designed to improve the administration and management of elections, by equipping INEC electoral officers and stakeholders with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure a transparent, efficient, and credible electoral process. The event seeks to address potential challenges and foster a more streamlined approach to election management.
The EU-SDGN, in partnership with DAI, has been a driving force in promoting democratic reforms across Nigeria. Their continued collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) highlights a strong commitment to ensuring that Nigeria’s elections meet international standards of transparency, fairness, and accountability. This support is particularly crucial in the context of Edo State, where the integrity of the electoral process is vital to maintaining public trust.
This workshop represents an important step in building stronger election administration frameworks in Nigeria. It underscores the collective efforts of both local and international partners to ensure that the upcoming Edo Governorship election is conducted in a manner that upholds democratic principles and fosters public confidence in the electoral system. Through these capacity-building initiatives, EU-SDGN and DAI continue to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s democratic development.
