The European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EUSDGN) Programme, implemented by the EU-SDGN cohort member, the International Press Centre, successfully held a Media and Election Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Credible Elections in Edo State. The event took place on Thursday, 4th July 2024, and Friday, 5th July 2024, in Benin City.

The dialogue aimed to foster collaboration between media professionals and election stakeholders to ensure credible and transparent elections in Edo State. Participants included journalists, representatives from civil society organisations, electoral bodies, and other key stakeholders who gathered to discuss strategies for enhancing the integrity of the electoral process.

Over the two-day event, attendees engaged in comprehensive discussions on various topics, including the role of the media in election reporting, combating misinformation, and promoting voter education. The dialogue also provided a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, identify challenges, and propose solutions to improve the conduct of elections in the state.

By bringing together media and election stakeholders, the EU-SDGN Programme aims to enhance the transparency and accountability of the electoral process in Edo State. This initiative is part of the broader efforts to rebuild trust in Nigeria’s electoral institutions and ensure that elections are conducted in a fair and credible manner.
