The European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EUSDGN) Programme, implemented by the EU-SDGN cohort member, Yiaga Africa, recently organised a Constituency Town Hall meeting with Honourable Dominic Okafor, the Member representing Aguata Federal Constituency in Anambra State. The event took place on Sunday, 30th June, at 3 pm, at the Orthon Palace Hotel, Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
The town hall meeting aimed to foster direct engagement between the elected representative and his constituents, promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Participants included local residents, community leaders, civil society organisations, and youth groups, who gathered to discuss various issues affecting the constituency and to seek solutions through collaborative efforts.
Honourable Dominic Okafor addressed the attendees, providing updates on his legislative activities and ongoing projects within the constituency. He emphasised the importance of citizen participation in the democratic process and encouraged constituents to voice their concerns and suggestions. The meeting facilitated a two-way dialogue, allowing constituents to ask questions and receive direct responses from their representative.
