Conversation on Digital Rights, Election Reporting and Cybersecurity

This training is part of the EU-SDGN II Programme’s Component 4 (Support to Media) ongoing efforts to strengthen media professionalism and enhance journalists’ capacity to safely, ethically, and responsibly cover electoral processes in Nigeria.

As the Osun State Governorship Election on 15 August 2026 approaches, the session is designed to equip journalists with the knowledge and practical skills to:

• Understand and uphold digital rights in election contexts;
• Adopt safe and secure digital practices;
• Recognise and respond to cybersecurity threats and online harassment; and
• Report elections accurately, ethically, and responsibly while countering misinformation and disinformation.

The training will feature expert-led discussions, practical demonstrations, and interactive peer-learning sessions tailored to address the real-world challenges journalists face in election reporting, while strengthening digital resilience and promoting credible, professional journalism.
