Over 25,000 young Nigerians in Abuja and Lagos registered to vote in just a two-week period in June 2022 as part of the European Union’s Youth Vote Count Initiative: a non-partisan civic campaign designed to mobilize youth participation in Nigeria’s electoral process. Supported by leading celebrities, and in partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the campaign offered those who registered the chance to attend a free concert, at which leading musicians and influencers appeared and performed, whilst also highlighting the importance of voter registration and civic participation.
